Your Brain Is Working Against You.

Learn How To Make It Work For You Instead.

Reduce Stress, Feel Happier, and Increase Productivity Without Meditation or Medication

How ya doing? Anxious, stressed, and have a nagging feeling that you’re just not doing enough?

I get it.

Life consists of endless demands on your time. You’re expected to be able to fit 12 hours worth of work in every day and smile while you do it.

And maybe you can do that for a while but don’t forget…

…You also have to eat right, workout, be a social activist, call your mom, be an informed voter, network, have a social life, squeeze in date night, do laundry, wash the dishes, keep up with the news, floss…

Oh and somewhere in there you need to get some sleep. (Remember sleep? It’s pretty awesome.)

Maybe you’re just starting to feel overwhelmed and want to stop it before it becomes a thing. Maybe you’ve been overwhelmed for years and just can’t do it anymore. It doesn’t really matter how long you’ve felt this way because the root cause is the same (so is the solution).

Our—totally natural and normal—thought processes actually prevent us from being efficient, from spending our time doing what’s good for us, and—believe it or not—from being happy.

Our brains are jerks like that.

They don’t mean to be, they just aren’t built for the demands of the modern world. But, when you know why your brain is a jerk and how to deal with it, stress and overwhelm become manageable (and even rare).

The Myth of Having It All

I see it all the time in my work. Intelligent, talented, successful people who are working too many hours with too little to show for it. These are people that look like they “have it all” but they feel stressed out, anxious, and on edge.

So what’s going on here?

I realized that we’re all so busy being busy we don’t actually know what the hell we’re working so hard for.

We’ve been conditioned to think that being busy is the same as being productive and that if you’re not insanely busy all the time you’re just not doing enough.

But you are enough. You don’t have to work 12 hours a day to prove it. You do need to change how you think and work to feel it.

We worry about someday instead of actively building the future we want.

We let anxiety about what other people think paralyze us.

We refresh Twitter and binge Netflix rather following our passions.

Meanwhile we’re working our asses off and wondering when we’ll get ahead.

We do all of these things because our brains are designed to keep us safe and alive today without much regard for what will make us happy or what the future holds. They aren’t designed for long-term thinking and they aren’t built for working 8+ hours a day…

…But they do love feeling productive (even if it’s fake).

So we spend lots of time on low value tasks that we can check off the to-do list. We chase inbox zero, have meetings about meetings, and spend two hours researching daily planners that we keep buying but never actually use. (Just me?)

We make ourselves so busy that we don’t have time to stop and think about what we’re working for.

It doesn’t matter how smart you are. If you don’t know what you’re up against, you can’t win. I know because I’m smart, my friends are smart, and my clients are smart and we are all in the same situation.

Once I realized we were all working too many hours with too little to show for it I decided I needed to fix it. I thought I just needed to figure out how to get more done so I set out to find the best productivity systems, hacks, and tricks.

I found them. Lots of them. I read all the books and blog posts and listened to all the podcasts and seminars so you don’t have to.

Guess what? None of it mattered.

You can use every productivity hack in the world but your brain will always sabotage you.

It will always convince you that you just need to look at Twitter one more time before you get back to work.

It will always tell you that you’re not <whatever> enough to do the big exciting thing you want to do.

It will always distract you from what’s important with what’s quick and easy.

So, I set out to find out why our brains sabotage us and how to stop it (or at least reduce the impact).

It took a lot of reading and researching and the generosity of my friends and family who were my guinea pigs but I eventually put together everything you need to know to reduce your stress level, feel happier, and get more done in less time.

The problem is that people believe…

  • That increasing productivity means working even more.
  • That wanting more out of life means they are ungrateful.
  • That they’re too busy to take a class like this.

None of these is true!

Increasing productivity means getting more of what matters done in less time so you have more time to do what you really want to do. (Hobbies…remember those?) No one is getting as much done as possible. Even me. Even you. Even Elon Musk. But even if we were, doing as much as possible isn’t the goal. The goal is to do the right things at the right times.

You deserve to feel confident, calm, and even joyful about how you spend your time. It is YOUR time. You can be grateful for what you have any still want more.

And, the class only takes about 15 minutes a week. Not a 15 minutes a day, 15 minutes a WEEK. Those 15 minutes will easily result in you recovering 2 hours each week (and probably more). You almost can’t afford not to take the time to learn this stuff.

Once You Know, You Know

Hacks, tricks, and systems are all things you have to actively do every day to get the benefit. Knowledge on the other hand works just by having it!

Once you know why your brain does what it does, why you worry about what you worry about, and why you care about what you care about you will never be the same. You will have opened a window into your behavior that will forever change how you act, for the better.

You won’t have to remember to do anything differently because you will think differently.

You will have ah-ha moments every single day when you realize why you’re stuck, why you self-sabotage, or why you feel the way you feel. Finally, those things won’t be your fault anymore! And once they aren’t your fault, you can move past the guilt and frustration and let go of old narratives so you can make progress towards your goals.

In school we aren’t taught why we think and act the way we do but it’s never too late to learn it and once you do, you’ll never be the same.

I created The Life Manifesto for everyone that has ever felt like there has to be more to life.
