Comfort and a feeling of security are necessary so we try to find it wherever we can. We cling to what we have and what we know because it feels safe, even if it’s actually harmful. Addiction, hoarding, staying in bad relationships, not leaving toxic workplaces. These are all ways we stay comfortable in discomfort. There is discomfort that is holding you back right now but you’ve been afraid of letting go of the safety you think it brings. Now is the time to see the situation differently and embrace change. Change may require that you look at your problems differently. What you think has been the problem might not be what needs your attention. What threat have you been trying to protect yourself from by staying in discomfort? Is that threat real or have you created a problem that reinforces your anxiety? (7 of Wands)
When you acknowledge your fears and how your own actions are reinforcing them, you can see the way out more clearly. It’s not easy to take responsibility for how you’ve created your reality but it is necessary if you are going to build a new one.
